Known limitations

We’d rather you know the edges up front. Here’s where TermBridge currently stops.

Shell support

• zsh only. The shell hook is zsh-specific. zsh is the default interactive shell on macOS (since Catalina), so most setups work out of the box — but if your login shell is bash or fish, TermBridge won’t wrap your shells. See Installation.

Platform support

• iPhone and iPad today. The companion app is iOS / iPadOS. Android is not yet supported — it’s on the roadmap.
• Mac side requires macOS 13 (Ventura) or later.

Your Mac must be reachable

• The agent holds a single outbound connection to the relay. If your Mac sleeps or goes offline, its shells stop being reachable until it wakes. For long unattended runs, keep the Mac awake and plugged in.

Buffer caps

• Scrollback replay is 256 KiB per shell. When you re-attach, you get the most recent 256 KiB of output replayed — older output beyond that isn’t retained for replay.
• Clipboard sync is capped at 256 KiB per item. Larger payloads won’t sync.

Free-plan caps

• Free is limited to 1 Mac and 1 active terminal, plus 3 lifetime uses each of voice, file attach, file browse, and clipboard sync. Pro removes these. See Plans & limits.

In progress

• Notification deep-link. Tapping an agent notification currently opens the app to the waiting agent; landing directly inside that exact terminal pane is rolling out next. See Agent notifications.
• Cross-Mac Agents view. A dedicated view that lists every AI agent across all your Macs is in development and not yet enabled in the shipped app.
